OSOGBO, Nigeria — Alhaja Sidikatu Abake Basiru, the mother of the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, has been laid to rest following Islamic burial rites in Osogbo, Osun State.
Okay News reports that the funeral took place on Monday at the Ansarudeen Burial Ground, Ansarudeen Mosque, Sabo, Osogbo, where family members, political leaders, traditional rulers, party stakeholders, and sympathisers from different parts of the country gathered to pay their final respects. The Janazah prayer attracted a large turnout of mourners who also offered prayers and condolences to Senator Basiru and the entire Basiru family.
The late Alhaja Basiru passed away at the age of 92 and was widely remembered as a devoted Muslim, respected matriarch, and compassionate mother whose life was defined by faith, service, and strong moral values. Earlier, the APC had described her as a woman whose guidance and principles helped shape the lives and accomplishments of her children, including the party’s National Secretary. The ruling party prayed for Allah’s mercy upon her soul and for her admission into Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
