Governor Nyesom Wike has announced that he won’t be cancelling state funded pilgrimages.

Speaking at the inauguration of the State Christian and Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards in Port Harcourt, Wike said, ”Rivers government will continue to sponsor pilgrims in view of the importance Nigerians place on their religious faith.

”However, the number of people to be sponsored on pilgrimages would be reduced in line with dwindling state resources. My administration will continue to promote religious harmony and support Muslims because of our belief in religious diversity”.
