The National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB), has announced the release of results for the May/June, 2016 examinations.

The Registrar/Chief executive Officer of NABTEB, Prof. (Mrs.) Ifeoma Mercy Isuigo-Abanihe, who announced the results on Thursday in Benin, said a total of 69,472 enrolled for the examination across 1,530 centres  scattered around the country.

According to her, 55.93 percent (38,280) of the candidates recorded five credit passes and above, including English language and Mathematics, while 79.61 percent (54,485) of those examined scored five credits and above with or without English language and Mathematics.

Prof. Isuigo-Abanihe noted that out of the total number that sat for the examination, 2,273 candidates representing 3.32 percent, were involved in cases of examination malpractice, just as she disclosed that the Board is currently verifying the script of the candidates, assuring that appropriate sanction would be melted out to those founding wanting as the board has zero tolerance to all forms of examination malpractices.

She however noted that there is improvement in the performance of candidates in examination this years, as 88.37 percent passed English language as against 87.6 percent in 2015.

The Registrar explained that engineering trades, construction trades, miscellaneous trades as well as general education subjects were registered by candidates for the examination.

According to her, NABTEB was established to fill the vacuum in the technological acquisition and development of the country, just as she called for full implementation of the new basic curriculum for the institution.

While calling for more partnership between the public and private sector in promoting technical and vocational education, she said NABTEB is working with stakeholders to come up with a policy on technical education and improve student enrollment.‎
