The naira showed a slight appreciation against the dollar on Thursday, closing at N1593.93 per dollar in the foreign exchange market, according to data from FMDQ.

This marks a gain of N12.63 from Wednesday’s close of N1606.56 per dollar.

However, the naira weakened on the black market, falling to N1625 per dollar from N1620 on Wednesday.

This fluctuation in the naira’s value comes as the foreign exchange transaction turnover decreased to $155.52 million on Thursday, down from $160.94 million recorded on Wednesday.
