The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has issued a two-day ultimatum to controversial singer Speed Darlington, following his public admission of having sexual intercourse with a minor.

Okay.ng reports that the agency’s directive came after a viral video surfaced on Tuesday, in which the singer was seen confessing to the act, triggering public outrage and calls for immediate investigation.

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) was the first to intervene, although it clarified that its jurisdiction is limited to Lagos and the exact location of the incident remains unclear. As a result, the matter was referred to NAPTIP for further action.

In response, NAPTIP formally invited Speed Darlington to its headquarters in Abuja on Friday, May 31, for questioning over the alleged sexual assault. However, the singer requested a reschedule to June 26, describing the summons as “sudden and urgent”.

The agency, in a statement released via its official X handle on Saturday, rejected the proposed delay, noting that the original invitation had been issued on Wednesday, May 28, giving the singer ample time to respond.

“The issue at hand is a matter of urgent national importance that requires an urgent response,” the agency stated.

NAPTIP further directed the singer to appear in person at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 2, at its Abuja headquarters located at 2028 Dalaba Crescent, Wuse Zone 5, FCT.

The statement continued:
“The attention of the Management of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons has been drawn to your response… You said: ‘Hello, I will not be able to come in today. This is very sudden and urgent for me. I already have commitments and responsibilities. I suggest you should reschedule to next month, June 26. I will be in Abuja that day.’”

“The agency wishes to state that the invitation was sent to you on Wednesday, 28th May, 2025, giving you sufficient time to prepare and appear as indicated.”

NAPTIP warned that “further legal action” would be taken should the singer fail to appear for the scheduled interview, emphasizing that “your cooperation is very critical in this matter.”
