Dangote Coal Mines Limited has been praise from the House of Representatives and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for assisting the government with its multimillion-Naira social programs.

Dangote received praise for implementing improvements that reduced the number of car accidents in the nation.

Rep. Akinfolarin Samuel, chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Federal Road Safety Commission, said the Dangote Group is a major player and a significant contributor to the growth of the Nigerian economy while speaking at an interaction session with the host communities of the Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The lawmaker praised the company’s efforts to create jobs but emphasized that the implementation of the mutually agreed-upon Town Development Agreement was necessary for the company and the host community to always walk in the same direction (CDA).

Speaking on behalf of the FRSC, Deputy Corps Marshal Kayode Fanola praised the Dangote Group for putting policies in place that have helped the nation experience fewer accidents.

I can confirm that our inspection of the Dangote Drivers School’s facilities in Obajana found that they complied with our standards, Fanola stated.

Mr. Charles Theophilus, a representative of Dangote Transport, revealed that the FRSC staff members were involved in training the Dangote Drivers.

Earlier this year, the Dangote Cement Plc opened a fully-equipped drivers school in the Kogi State town of Obajana.

Samuel Ibrahim, a youth leader and representative of the host community, informed lawmakers present at the session that the business was putting the CDA signed in July 2019 into effect.

According to the youth leader, the company’s projects at the Awo Akpali community included the installation of solar-powered boreholes, building bridges and roads, building blocks of classrooms, and building a clinic.

Alhaji Taslim Jimoh, the head of the Dangote delegation at the Interactive Session, assured the lawmakers that the Dangote Group complies with the law.

He continued by saying that the company had already made payments for compensation and other necessities related to coal mining.

The company’s Head of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), Mrs. Ebere Okonkwo, stated during the interactive session that Dangote Cement Plc was reviewing its certification of drivers and hiring procedures in collaboration with FRSC.
