The Nigerian Navy has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering closer ties with communities through the commissioning of a major renovation project at Igue Primary School, Ime-Obi, Agbor, Delta State. The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, speaking through Rear Admiral Oluwole Fadeyi, emphasized the Navy’s dedication to Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) and the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The project, which saw the restoration of the school’s infrastructure—including perimeter fencing, a new borehole, and a security gatehouse—was described as vital for creating a more conducive learning environment. “CIMIC includes activities and interactions between the military and civil society geared towards accomplishing military missions and strategic objectives,” Ogalla stated.

He noted that the initiative was part of the Chief of the Naval Staff Special Intervention Quick Impact Project (CNS-QIP), designed to enhance the Navy’s relationship with communities nationwide. Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogboi Nmoyem, who facilitated the project, was praised for giving back to his roots.

“Today’s commissioning of the Chief of the Naval Staff Special Intervention Quick Impact Project, undertaken by an illustrious son of Agbor, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogboi Nmoyem, is yet another watershed in the Nigerian Navy’s civil-military cooperation efforts,” Ogalla remarked.

Rear Admiral Nmoyem expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, describing the project as “a testament to the CNS’s visionary leadership and commitment to community development, with the Igue community being a major beneficiary.” He expressed hope that “the project would significantly improve the standard of learning for pupils of the school.”

The event was attended by local dignitaries, including the Dein of Agbor Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Dr. Benjamin Ikenchuku Keagborekuzi I, and the Chairman of Ika South Local Government Area, Hon. Jerry Ehiwariyo, who all lauded the Navy’s developmental impact.

Okay.ng reports that the Nigerian Navy continues to demonstrate its commitment to serving Nigerians beyond its maritime security mandate, honoring distinguished officers and uplifting communities through targeted interventions.
