ILORIN, Nigeria — The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted 10,000 tablets of Captagon, a potent amphetamine linked to terror financing, during a patrol in Kwara State, alongside uncovering a network of other major drug hauls across the country.
Okay News reports that the seizure occurred on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, along Bode Saadu Road, where operatives stopped a commercial trailer and searched a passenger identified as Nasiru Mu’azu, 33.
“The latest seizure of captagon, which street value costs as much as $25 a pill, was made on Tuesday, 21st April 2026, when NDLEA operatives on patrol along Bode Saadu road, Kwara state, intercepted a trailer conveying passengers. A search conducted on one of the passengers, 33-year-old Nasiru Mu’azu led to the recovery of 10 packs of captagon consisting of 10,000 pills and nine packets of Tapentadol 250mg,” the agency stated.
In a parallel operation in Oyo State, operatives intercepted a commercial bus en route to Sokoto on the same day. A passenger, Eze Prince Emeka, 33, was found to have ingested 45 pellets of cocaine weighing 1.043 kilograms. He excreted all pellets under observation.
“The suspect who claims to be a businessman in Sokoto was subsequently placed under close excretion observation during which he excreted a total of forty-five (45) pellets of cocaine with a total weight of 1.043 kilograms in three excretions,” the NDLEA said. Preliminary investigations indicate he planned to excrete the drugs in Sokoto and later re‑ingest them for onward trafficking through Algeria to Europe.
Further interdictions saw operatives in Edo State seize 1,196,000 pills of pharmaceutical opioids from a truck on the Benin–Lagos expressway, with suspects Osagie Igbinibo and Omijie Malik arrested. In Lagos, Rasheed Ibuowo, 40, was arrested at Mile 2 with 810 kilograms of Arizona cannabis.
In Cross River State, 20,000 kilograms of cannabis cultivated on eight hectares were destroyed, and 170 kilograms of processed substance recovered. In Niger State, a suspect, Mohammed Aliyu, was intercepted with 394 components of improvised explosive devices, later handed over to security agencies.
