The dreams of 295 candidates offered provisional admission to the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, may be dashed as they face the risk of losing their slots due to their inability to secure final clearance and obtain matriculation numbers.
According to a statement released by the institution, these candidates were among the 12,298 individuals offered provisional admissions into various departments at LASU.
However, they failed to undergo the necessary clearance procedures during the 2023/2024 LASU Central Admissions Clearance Operations (LACACA).
As a consequence, these candidates may be excluded from participating in the first-semester examinations scheduled to commence on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
The non-clearance of these candidates is attributed to the failure to provide essential documents or information required for the clearance process.
Specifically, many candidates neglected to upload their O’Level results on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) portal, a crucial step to validate their admissions.
The breakdown of non-cleared candidates and their reasons includes:
- Candidates Rejected at ICT: 26 candidates were rejected due to discrepancies or non-availability of results on the WAEC/NECO portals.
- Candidates Rejected at the Faculty Level: 66 candidates faced rejection due to inconsistencies in the names on WAEC/NECO/JAMB admission letters and the non-availability of admission letters.
- Candidates at Level 1: 138 candidates failed to upload their O’Level results on the JAMB portal and neglected to change to the admitted course on JAMB’s portal.
- Candidates at Level 2: 50 candidates, offered admissions as early as October 2023, and 15 candidates offered admissions in January 2024, totaling 65, did not commence the LACACA process.
