ABUJA, Nigeria – The Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands donated operational equipment to the Nigeria Immigration Service in Abuja on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
Okay News reports that the Repatriation and Departure Service of the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security provided the items to the Nigeria Immigration Service Hostmanship Unit to support training programs.
The donation included a 24 KVA solar inverter system, a 20-kilowatt backup lithium battery, two 75-inch LG Smart TVs, a TV stand, a TV wall mount, a digital projector, a projector screen, nine sun-shaped window blinds, an outdoor wireless internet router, four solar standing fans, an integrated sound system, two wireless microphones, an HP laptop computer, a whiteboard, and a whiteboard stand.
Nigeria’s Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, said the items represented “our collective resolve to build an organization where professionalism, empathy, courtesy, and excellence define every interaction with members of the public.” She said the partnership had become “a genuine collaboration built on trust, shared learning, and a common desire to improve migration management and public service delivery.”
The Charge d’Affaires at the Embassy of the Netherlands in Abuja, Ronnald Sonnemans, said the continuation of a mobile team project aims to professionalise border management tasks. Jan-Willem Keuninck, Senior Adviser at the Department for Agriculture and Forestry Services in the Agency of Dominions for Europe, Justice and Security, said the two services had maintained a working relationship for 25 years.
Keuninck said officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service had been certified as Hostmanship trainers in the Netherlands, and a training programme for senior executives will be launched there in September. Nigeria Immigration Service Hostmanship Coordinator, ACI Samson Thomas, said the Hostmanship Unit did not exist just over a year ago.
