Brazilian star Neymar has hinted that he could retire from international football following his team’s World Cup quarter-final defeat to Croatia.

Speaking after the match, Neymar said: “I am not closing any doors on the national team but I am also not guaranteeing 100 per cent that I will return”.

The forward, who equalled Pele’s record tally of 77 goals for Brazil with a brilliant strike in the quarter-final, did not take a penalty in the shootout as Croatia won 4-2.

Neymar and Brazil were eliminated in the same stage of the World Cup by Belgium four years ago in Russia.
