Prosecutors in Los Angeles have charged Nick Reiner, 32, with the murder of his parents, acclaimed Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner. District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced that Reiner faces two counts of first-degree murder, with a special circumstance alleging multiple murders, a charge that could carry a sentence of life without parole or the death penalty if he is convicted.
The charges come two days after the couple were found dead in their Brentwood, California home, each suffering multiple stab wounds, according to authorities. Prosecutors also allege that Reiner used a knife, described as a dangerous and deadly weapon. Hochman said no final decision has been made on whether the death penalty will be sought.
