New militant group, the Niger Delta Avengers, on Friday warned multinational oil giant, Nigerian Agip Oil Company, not to repair its pipelines that the group blew on Friday.

The NDA had in the early hours of Friday claimed the bombing of two major oil pipelines in Bayelsa State.

These were Ogboinbiri-Tebidaba and Clough Creek-Tebidaba Crude oil pipelines.

Both are said to be operated by Nigeria Agip Oil Company though initial report had it that they were operated by the Shell Petroleum Development Company.

The Avengers, however, went further on Friday afternoon, warning Nigeria Agip Oil Company not to contemplate the repair of the pipelines.

It said in a tweet by its spokesperson, Brigadier General Mudoch Agbinibo, the NDA said: “We Niger Delta Avengers are sending this warning message to AGIP not to commence repair works on any of the blown pipelines in Bayelsa. We will make you regret it if you dare us.”

Meanwhile, the Bayelsa State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps on Friday confirmed the attacks on the oil pipelines by the NDA.

The Commandant of the NSCDC in Bayelsa State, Desmond Agu, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the attacks were on Agip’s Ogboinbiri-Tebidaba and Clough Creek-Tebidaba Crude Oil pipelines.

Agu said: “The pipelines located within Agip’s oil fields were attacked but we got reports that the pipeline was attacked after it had been shut down, so there is no loss of crude or leakage.

“We have dispatched our men and we have intensified patrols in the area.

“We are working round the clock to protect critical infrastructure in Bayelsa.”
