ABUJA, Nigeria — Rotimi Amaechi said he can solve Nigeria’s problem ahead of 2027 election the question is was he able to deliver his best in his previous leadership positions when he was the governor of Rivers State, also when he was Nigeria’s Minister of Transportation, my bone of contention is that the African Democratic congress (ADC) are after making the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) a party of the past, Rotimi Amaechi want to contest for 2027 presidential ticket under the platform of African democratic Congress.

That is exactly where my head is at right now on this Friday, April 17, 2026. The political noise is getting louder.

Amaechi is officially aiming for the presidency. He sat down on a television broadcast today and declared he is the only man who understands the Nigerian problem.

He wants to run under the ADC, an opposition coalition desperately trying to unseat the incumbent APC government. The APC currently controls the federal government under President Bola Tinubu.

Amaechi is a former governor of Rivers State, an oil-rich region in southern Nigeria. He later served as the country’s Minister of Transportation.

Okay News detailed his claims about building rail lines and ports. He thinks those concrete slabs prove he can run a nation.

I have my doubts about his track record. He operated while the country borrowed heavily to fund infrastructure, contributing to a massive ₦68.32 trillion ($45.54 billion) national budget.

Amaechi is now directly attacking President Tinubu’s economic policies. He says Nigerians are starving and fuel is impossible to buy.

He claims the ADC will easily defeat Tinubu if the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)—Nigeria’s election umpire—allows a fair vote. He actually said Tinubu does not have the right to speak to the public anymore.

INEC has declared January 16, 2027, as the date for the presidential election. Party primaries to pick candidates will happen between April 23 and May 30, 2026.

Amaechi is not the only big name vying in the opposition. Heavyweights like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Nasir El-Rufai are also aiming for the ticket.

It is going to be a brutal fight for power. I will keep observing to see if his past actions are actually worthy of this urgent saving mission.
