Abuja, NIGERIA – The Federal Government, through the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), has announced the immediate disengagement of Online Integrated Solutions (OIS Services) from handling Nigeria’s visa application and submission processes in the United States of America.
The strategic directive was contained in a public notice issued on Thursday, July 9, 2026, by the Service Public Relations Officer, Comptroller of Immigration Akinsola Akinlabi. Following the immediate enforcement of the new directive, the NIS has instructed all prospective travelers, foreign nationals, and diaspora families requiring entry visas to bypass third-party channels. Applicants are now required to submit their documents directly to the Embassy of Nigeria in Washington, D.C., or the Nigerian Consulates-General in New York and Atlanta until further notice.
The immigration authority assured the public that adequate internal personnel and processing infrastructure have been deployed across the three diplomatic missions to guarantee a seamless transition, preventing any administrative delays in visa issuance. While the Service urged applicants to rely strictly on official communication channels for updates on submission timelines, the structural overhaul reflects the federal government’s ongoing efforts to streamline sovereign consular services, maximize direct revenue transparency, and improve overall service delivery abroad.
