Nigeria, Morocco Sign Revised Air Travel Deal to Boost Flights

Abuja, Nigeria – Nigeria and Morocco have signed a revised Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) aimed at boosting flight operations and strengthening tourism and economic ties between the two nations.

The deal provides a modern framework to enhance connectivity and expand opportunities for airlines.

The agreement was signed by Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, during a global aviation symposium in Marrakech. According to Okay News, the pact is designed to deepen commercial cooperation and support safety, security, and environmental sustainability in the aviation sector. It replaces a previous agreement with more forward-looking terms.

This updated pact is expected to increase the frequency and accessibility of air travel for passengers moving between the two countries. The improved connectivity is intended to stimulate trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges, fostering a stronger relationship between Nigeria and Morocco.

The signing is part of a broader strategy by the Nigerian government to transform its aviation industry. This includes the recent adoption of a 20-year Civil Aviation Master Plan from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which is guiding the modernization of airport infrastructure and regulatory oversight to accommodate future growth in passenger and cargo traffic.
