Nigeria Opens Applications for Second TVET Cohort with N22,500 Monthly Stipend for Youth Training

Abuja, Nigeria – The Federal Government has opened applications for the second cohort of its Technical and Vocational Education and Training Programme, offering a monthly stipend of N22,500 (approximately $14.40) to participants, according to a statement from the Ministry of Education.

Okay News reports that the programme offers intensive six-month and one-year hands-on training in accredited centres across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. Participants will receive a nationally recognised certification upon successful completion.

Training covers high-demand sectors including construction, information technology, automotive technology, creative media, agriculture, fashion, cosmetology, tourism, hospitality, catering, and leather works. Applicants must be available for full-time participation, with attendance monitored using biometric verification systems.

Interested applicants can submit applications through the official TVET portal at www.tvet.education.gov.ng. Applicants will need to provide their National Identification Number and Bank Verification Number during registration.

In December 2025, the Federal Government released N4.7 billion as the first tranche of payments to trainees and accredited centres under the TVET programme. This TVET programme expansion aims to equip Nigerian youth with practical skills for job creation and entrepreneurship.
