MONTRÉAL, Canada — Nigeria’s Federal Government concluded its comprehensive aircraft manufacturing engagement programme to modernise the national aviation sector following a strategic working visit to the Bombardier facility in Canada on Friday, July 10, 2026.
Okay News reports that Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, led a delegation of indigenous airline operators and senior regulatory officials to Bombardier’s Laurent Beaudoin Completion Centre in Montréal, Canada. The Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister, Tunde Moshood, stated that the visit represents the final component of a state-led outreach plan targeting global aircraft Original Equipment Manufacturers.
The initiative follows earlier state level transactions and diplomatic engagements conducted by the Nigerian government with Boeing, Airbus, and Embraer. The programme was designed to expand technical cooperation, establish direct manufacturer relationships for local carriers, resolve long-standing maintenance capability gaps, and lower the barriers to international aircraft leasing and financing options.
“Our objective has always been clear: to connect Nigerian operators directly with the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers and create opportunities that will strengthen indigenous capacity, modernise our fleets, improve safety, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure the long-term sustainability of our aviation industry,” Keyamo said.
The formal regulatory delegation accompanying the minister to the Canadian aerospace plant included the Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Chris Najomo; the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Olubunmi Kuku; and Nigeria’s Representative on the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organisation, Mahmoud Sani Ben-Tukur.
