Nigeria to Host 2019 World Para Powerlifting Championships

Nigeria has been granted the rights to host the 2019 World Para Powerlifting Championships, with Lagos as the host city.

The tournament would begin from January 28.

The International Para Powerlifting Committee (IPC) confirmed this in a statement addressed to the President of Nigeria Para Powerlifting Federation, Queen Uboh.

Senior Manager of the International Paralympic Committee, Jorge Moreno, issued the statement.

“World Para Powerlifting would like to thank the Nigeria Paralympic Committee and the Nigeria Para Powerlifting Federation for their application to host the Nigeria 2019 International Para Powerlifting Competition from 28 – 30 January 2019 at the Lagos Oriental Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria,” the statement read.

“On behalf of the World Para Powerlifting, I am writing to confirm the approval of your competition application. World Para Powerlifting looks forward to working with you to finalise all the details and requirements as outlined in the application to host a very successful competition to heighten the success of Para Powerlifting in Nigeria and to further support the development of the sport across the region.”
