BURATAI, BORNO STATE, NIGERIA – Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have successfully foiled a planned mass abduction by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists, rescuing over 150 civilians in a coordinated operation.

Okay New reports that the incident occurred along the Buratai–Kamuya axis, where troops came under attack while escorting civilians. During the engagement, surveillance revealed that insurgents were attempting to abduct a large number of people using multiple vehicles.

Reinforcements were swiftly deployed, forcing the attackers to retreat and abandon both the captives and their vehicles. All rescued individuals were safely evacuated to Buratai for onward reunification with their families.

However, the operation was not without casualties, as troops encountered an improvised explosive device during pursuit operations, leaving five personnel seriously injured.

The military says the mission highlights its continued commitment to protecting civilians and sustaining pressure on terrorist groups, especially as the Easter period approaches.
