Chancellor Ahaghotu, a Nigerian student at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, Georgia, has made history by setting a new Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest painting marathon.

GWR announced the achievement on Wednesday, highlighting that Chancellor broke a decade-old record.

“After painting for 100 consecutive hours, Nigerian art student Chancellor Ahaghotu has broken a decade-old record for the longest painting marathon,” GWR declared in a statement.

During the marathon, Chancellor created an astonishing 106 pieces of art, each on a separate canvas, depicting a wide range of subjects, including celebrities, food items, plants, and animals.

Notably, on the 60th hour, he painted a broken record player, symbolizing the breaking of the previous record.

Battling fatigue around the 88-hour mark, Chancellor remained committed to reaching his 100-hour target.

His final piece in the marathon portrayed an exhausted person.

Reflecting on the accomplishment, Chancellor expressed his joy and the significance of the paintings representing his various moods and feelings throughout the marathon.

“One thing I love about the paintings I created is that they represent my different moods and how I was feeling when I created them,” Chancellor said.

“There was joy and celebration when I completed the 100 hours. It was a new experience for me, and I’m so glad I completed the 100 hours.”

The Belgian painter Roland Palmaerts held the previous record, having painted for 60 hours in 2013.
