ABUJA, Nigeria – The Federal Ministry of Education has denied reports of an attack on Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC), Monguno, Borno State, assuring parents that students and staff remain safe.
The ministry described the reports as false and capable of causing unnecessary panic among parents and the public. Okay News reports that all students, staff and boarding facilities at the school have been accounted for.
According to the ministry, academic and boarding activities are continuing normally in a secure environment. Education Minister Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa said the safety and welfare of learners in all Federal Government Colleges remain a priority.
The ministry also clarified that no FGGC Monguno student was involved in the incident linked to the school in the false reports. It said the affected persons were remedial students outside the college, while the Borno State Government is handling their safety and welfare.
The ministry urged media organisations, bloggers and social media users to verify reports through official channels before publishing them and advised the public to disregard the claim of an attack on the school.
