Nigerian Striker Appointed Coach Of English Fifth-Tier Club

Chester FC have appointed former Scotland international of Nigerian descent, Chris Iwelumo assistant manager .

Iwelumo, 38, will assist Jon McCarthy at the Vanarama National League club, and replaces Ian Sharps, who moved to League One side Walsall as the first team coach two weeks ago.

In a playing career spanning two decades, Iwelumo turned out for St Mirren, Stoke City, Colchester United, Watford and Burnley among others.

He also had spells with foreign clubs Aarhus Fremad (Denmark) and Alemannia Aachen (Germany).

Since he retired in 2014, Iwelumo, who played four times for Scotland, has been working as a television pundit at Sky Sports News, TalkSport and Channel 5.
