The troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested four Boko Haram members who were planting Improvised Explosive Device along a major supply route for the Nigerian Army at Gombiri, Borno State.

The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, said in an electronic mail on Friday that the troops who were on a mission to clear mines and IEDs in the area recovered two heavy IEDs from the insurgents.

He said that the suspects were arrested following information provided by an arrested terror suspect, Lawan Abbai, on the activities of the suspects.

He said that the troops arrested four fleeing Boko Haram suspects who claimed to be on their way to surrender to troops.

He stated however that preliminary investigation conducted by the troops revealed that the four suspects were the ones alleged to have been planting IEDs in the area.
