Nigerian singer Burna Boy on Monday, January 27th, 2020 failed to win his first-ever Grammy Award.

Angelique Kidjo was announced as the winner of the ‘Best World Music Album’ with her album ‘Celia’ at the 62nd Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.

The Beninese singer beats Burna Boy alongside Altin Gun, “Gece”, Bokante & Metropole Orkest conducted by Jules Buckley, “What Heat”, and Nathalie Joachim with Spektral Quartet, “Fanm D’Ayiti”.

Reactions trailed on Twitter moments after Kidjo clinched the award ahead of Burna.

They purposely didn’t give Burna Boy ..They know Nigerians are getting closer to them on the music stage that’s why they don’t always pick any Nigerian ..We will continue to rise .🇳🇬 for life 💪🏻🦅

Nigerian music lovers should respect the "sentiments" of the voters at RCA.

No bitterness

An award nomination on the #GRAMMYs world stage is enough motivation for Burna to keep doing what he knows how to do best.

African Giant was a solid body of work. RCA thought otherwise 🤷

I told everyone that cared to hear then how slim the chances of Burna boy winning were immediately I saw her name there but they said "bad belle"… Now I'm texting them, they're not replying https://t.co/7GRAjcQNTD
