Jos, NIGERIA – The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has commissioned 80 new housing units in Plateau State as part of efforts to improve welfare and boost operational morale within the military.
The project was delivered under the Nigerian Army Affordable Home Ownership Scheme. Okay News reports that the army chief described quality housing as a vital investment in the combat readiness of personnel safeguarding the nation.
General Shaibu revealed that 60 units were previously completed last year, with another 160 units scheduled for upcoming launch in Abuja and Benin. To support veterans, five percent of the new homes have been specifically reserved for soldiers wounded in action.
During his visit to the state, the army chief also inaugurated new trainee hostels and convenience facilities at the 3 Division Training School. Military officials noted that these infrastructure projects are part of a broader strategy to enhance both institutional capacity and welfare across the country.
