Lagos, Nigeria: Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission announced on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, its plan to strike 100,000 companies from its register for failing to file outstanding annual returns and other statutory documents.
Okay News reports that the commission issued a public notice confirming the commencement of the exercise, designated as Batch 6, pursuant to Section 692 (3) and (4) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 2020.
The commission directed the affected entities to verify their status online. The notice said, “The list of the affected One Hundred Thousand (100,000) companies can be accessed at the Commission’s Website http://cac.gov.ng”
The agency provided a grace period of 90 days for the entities to update their files. It said, “The affected companies are hereby advised to take steps to file alloutstanding Annual Returns (and by extension Persons with Significant Control/Beneficial Ownership information) and regularize their records within ninety (90) daysof this notice.”
Firms were instructed to send their proof of compliance to a specific email address. It said, “Evidence of compliance should be sent to the designated [email protected],”
The agency stated that defaulting companies would not receive further warnings. It said, “Please note that companies that fail to comply within the stipulated timeline shall be struck off the Register without further notice.”
