Lagos, Nigeria – Nigeria’s non-oil exports rose significantly in 2025, reaching N12.36 trillion (approximately $7.9 billion) between January and December, according to the latest Foreign Trade in Goods Statistics released by the National Bureau of Statistics.
The figure represents a sharp increase from N9.09 trillion recorded in 2024, highlighting stronger export performance outside the country’s oil sector.
Okay News reports that the latest data suggests continued progress in Nigeria’s push to expand exports in agriculture, manufacturing, and mineral resources as policymakers seek to reduce dependence on crude oil revenues.
A breakdown of the 2025 export figures shows that mineral products dominated Nigeria’s non-oil export earnings during the year at N73.46 trillion. Prepared foodstuffs, beverages, spirits, vinegar, and tobacco followed at N3.88 trillion, while products from the chemical and allied industries contributed N3.37 trillion.
Non-oil exports have expanded rapidly since the currency adjustment of mid-2023, which weakened the naira and improved the pricing competitiveness of Nigerian exporters in global markets. This non-oil exports growth reflects Nigeria’s ongoing economic diversification efforts and expanding global trade footprint beyond crude oil.
