Nigeria’s Oluremi Tinubu Emerges Steering Committee Member of OAFLAD

Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria’s first lady, has been voted as a member of the Steering Committee of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD).

On Saturday In Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Nigeria’s Oluremi Tinubu was voted at the 29th Ordinary General Assembly of the organisation.

Sierra Leone First Lady, Mrs Fatima Bio, was voted as the President of OAFLAD, while the first lady of Angola, Mrs Ana Lorenzo, emerges Vice President.

Oluremi Tinubu enters the eight-member steering committee as one of the two representatives for West Africa.

Other member nations voted to the committee include Sierra Leone, in which the first lady is the new President of the organisation; Angola, the first lady is also Vice President; Malawi, Kenya, Ethiopia, Equatorial Guinea and Congo.

The election was organized alongside the 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union, holding between February 13 to 16.

Organization of African First Lady for Development members constitute the wives of African heads of state and government from 24 countries all over the continent.

Nigeria’s Oluremi Tinubu shows an accolade to Bio and promised progression in ensuring that women and girls in Africa have access to standard education.

The Secretary General and the incumbent President of the organization, Ms Nardos Berhanu, and the first lady of Namibia, Mrs Monica Geingos, also greeted Nigeria’s Oluremi Tinubu and other members that were voted in.
