ABUJA, Nigeria: Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Saturday, May 2, for visits to France, Kenya, and Rwanda to attend two international summits.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, released a statement confirming the itinerary on Friday, May 1, 2026. Okay News reports that President Tinubu will travel to France before proceeding to Nairobi, Kenya.
The Africa-France Summit, co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto, is scheduled from May 11 to May 12. Operating under the theme “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth”, the summit focuses on energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, restructuring of global financing architecture, and climate action.
Following the events in Kenya, the president will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, to attend the annual Africa CEO Forum taking place between May 14 and May 15. This summit is held in partnership with the International Finance Corporation and will gather over 2,000 top executives and national leaders. The forum will operate with the theme “Scale or Fail” and focus on accelerating economic transformation through regional integration and cross-border investment.
During both summits, the president will deliver statements regarding his administration’s economic reforms and hold meetings with global business leaders. He will be accompanied by an unspecified number of ministers and senior aides. The president will return to Nigeria at the conclusion of the summit in Rwanda.
