In the recently released FIFA men’s ranking on Thursday morning, Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, experienced a slight setback, dropping two positions from 28th to 30th place.

The shift in ranking comes after a series of recent performances by the team, which participated in two friendly matches in the past month.

Under the guidance of current coach Finidi George, the Super Eagles secured a notable 2-1 victory against their longstanding rivals, Ghana.

However, they faced a setback with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Eagles of Mali in another friendly encounter.

Despite the dip in ranking, the Super Eagles maintained their position as the third-ranked team in Africa.

They trail behind the Atlas Lions of Morocco and the Terangha Lions of Senegal, holding onto their spot as one of the continent’s top footballing nations.

The top five teams in Africa are rounded out by the Pharaohs of Egypt and the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire, showcasing the competitive landscape of African football.

Meanwhile, on the global stage, world champions Argentina retained their coveted top position in the FIFA ranking.
