Night of Terror in Plateau: Over 45 Killed in Zike Kimakpa, Plateau

A devastating attack unfolded late Sunday night in the Zike Kimakpa community in Plateau State, resulting in the confirmed deaths of over 45 people and injuries to many others. The community, located within the Kwall District of the Irigwe Chiefdom in Bassa Local Government Area, is now grappling with the immense loss and destruction caused by the brutal assault.

Community sources revealed that armed gunmen stormed Zike Kimakpa and began shooting indiscriminately, leading to the tragic loss of numerous lives, with the current count standing at over 45, and leaving many residents wounded. Adding to the horror, several homes within the community were also razed by fire during the attack, leaving residents displaced and traumatized.

The Secretary General of the Irigwe Development Association (IDA), Danjuma Dickson Auta, provided confirmation of the tragic event, stating that the body count has already exceeded 45 and is expected to rise. He described the attack as a highly organized and extensive act of violence against the community that claimed the lives of over 45 people.

This tragic incident underscores the ongoing security challenges in Plateau State and demands a swift and decisive response from authorities to ensure the safety and security of its citizens. The focus now turns to supporting the affected community and bringing the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice.
