The Alumni Association of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) has hailed Ogun State as a trailblazer in many respects, highlighting its distinction as the birthplace of both the first and current Director General of the Institute.

Ambassador Emmanuel Obi-Okafor, the National President of the Alumni Association, made this statement during a courtesy call on the Ogun State Deputy Governor’s office on Monday. He underscored the pivotal role of NIPSS, which was established as a hub for policy research, strategic reflection, and dialogue. The Institute also aims to develop top-tier technocrats who can drive innovative policy initiatives across the country.

Obi-Okafor lauded the state government’s efforts to make Ogun a prime location for both investment and tourism. He noted that the delegation was in Ogun to launch the state chapter of the Alumni Association.

Responding, Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele expressed her delight at hosting the high-powered delegation from NIPSS. She emphasized the Institute’s significant contribution to the enhancement of Nigeria’s human capital and the development of public policy.

Salako-Oyedele reiterated the commitment of the Ogun State government to maintaining the state’s reputation as a state of many firsts, pointing out that only the most exceptional individuals from the state have the opportunity to enroll in the prestigious Mni program at NIPSS.

She also advocated for greater gender inclusivity in the selection process for NIPSS participants, suggesting that more women should be involved in policy-making at the national level. The Deputy Governor assured the delegation that Ogun State would continue supporting the Institute’s efforts to train and develop qualified personnel for governance and policy leadership.
