NITDA Urges Shared Data Systems at Abia Governance Workshop

NITDA urged cooperation between government agencies at an Abia workshop reported in February 2026, with discussions on shared data and digital skills.

Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) urged public institutions to build compatible data systems at an Abia State governance workshop reported on February 21, 2026.

The Future Enterprise and Data Architecture workshop examined how government agencies in the southeastern Nigerian state could share information and improve services. Its theme linked citizen identity with data-based public administration.

Okay News reports that the state’s Ministry of Budget and Planning organised the workshop with the Office of the Chief Information Officer. A participant account from the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta confirmed the organisations involved and NITDA’s participation.

According to Digital Times Nigeria, NITDA Director-General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi was represented by Aristotle Onumo, the agency’s director of stakeholder management and partnerships.

Inuwa said cooperation between institutions was necessary for building systems that could exchange information consistently and securely. He also said technical equipment needed to be accompanied by staff skills and changes in working practices.

The foundation’s account described a panel on cooperation across government and said its representatives shared lessons from development programmes in the Niger Delta. It identified coordinated data systems and relationships between institutions as issues discussed.

Digital Times reported that Abia Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu opened the workshop on behalf of Governor Alex Otti.

The discussions concerned planning for more integrated public administration. The accounts did not establish that a statewide shared-data platform had been completed or that the workshop itself introduced a new mandatory citizen-registration process.
