NITDA announced a management-union committee on staff welfare, training and workplace concerns in a September 30, 2026 release about its HR Sensitisation Week.

Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has established a joint management-union committee to address staff welfare, training and workplace conditions, according to an agency release dated September 30, 2026.

The agency’s director-general, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, inaugurated the committee at the closing ceremony of its three-day Human Resources Sensitisation Week. The release did not give a separate date for the ceremony.

Okay News reports that the committee will bring management and union representatives together to consider employee concerns through a formal consultation process, according to the release.

Staff raised questions about how training opportunities and benefits were allocated, gaps in working equipment and the speed of assistance during medical emergencies or accidents.

Inuwa said training decisions should take account of employees’ performance and contribution rather than depend solely on rank. He also said the agency had bought digital tools and was working to equip every employee adequately.

“People are the operating system of the Agency. We want to unlock your potential,” he said.

The committee’s management members include the directors responsible for finance and human resources, the director-general’s representative and auditors. The union will nominate four representatives.

Inuwa asked the committee to begin work urgently and called on employees to match improvements in welfare with greater productivity and punctuality.

The agency’s director of human resource management, Sarafa Lawal, said staff development required participation from human resources officers, departmental leaders and individual employees.

The programme included an administrative workshop and an HR Clinic for staff questions. At the closing ceremony, the agency recognised employees for performance, attendance and punctuality, including cleaners, security personnel and other support staff.
