Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) signed a business digitalisation agreement with the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) at GITEX Nigeria 2026 in Lagos on September 3.
The memorandum of understanding covers technology adoption by micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, business training and the development of a collaborative digital platform.
Okay News reports that the agreement establishes a framework for cooperation between the agency and Nigeria’s organised private sector, according to the organisations’ accounts.
The framework also provides for cooperation on the Digital Nigeria International Conference 2026 and subsequent editions. It seeks to connect businesses with government institutions, technology providers, researchers, investors and development partners.
NACCIMA Director-General Olusola Obadimu said companies needed digital tools to remain competitive and that NACCIMA’s private-sector network could help carry the partnership into Nigerian businesses.
He said the organisations intended to begin implementation after returning to their offices. NITDA’s account did not specify a budget, a beneficiary target or a timetable for completing the proposed platform.
The agreement brought together the agency responsible for developing and regulating Nigeria’s information technology sector and the national umbrella organisation for chambers of commerce. Its work includes helping businesses adopt technology and supporting youth-led digital entrepreneurship.
