Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and North West University discussed digital teaching, research and infrastructure support in an agency account published on August 18, 2026.
Vice-Chancellor Amina Salihi sought assistance for computing facilities and proposed distance-learning programmes. The discussions also covered skills that would help graduates meet employers’ requirements.
Okay News reports that NITDA Director-General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi encouraged the university to include digital literacy in its general-studies programme, according to the agency.
He urged closer ties with technology companies and earlier involvement of industry in research projects. NITDA identified technical training, innovation laboratories and partnerships with technology providers as possible areas of support.
Salihi said the university was developing a computer-based testing centre through a philanthropist’s intervention and needed equipment for the facility. She also requested devices to support academic and administrative work.
NITDA’s account said Salihi had made research and digital development part of the university’s 14-point agenda.
The proposed cooperation remained at the discussion stage. NITDA’s account said both institutions would continue identifying specific areas of work and developing a structured partnership.
