NITDA Seeks Closer State Coordination on Digital Skills and Hubs

An April 1, 2026, engagement brought NITDA and North-Central officials together to discuss state digital programmes, training and innovation support.

Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) met state and regional officials in Abuja on April 1, 2026, seeking closer coordination of digital skills programmes and support for technology businesses.

The engagement included representatives from Kogi and Nasarawa, two states in Nigeria’s north-central region, and the North Central Development Commission.

Okay News reports that NITDA’s director-general, Kashifu Inuwa, was represented by its director of zonal office coordination, Ajayi Babajide.

Inuwa asked state governments, universities, businesses and civil society organisations to work together on implementing the agency’s digital programmes. He identified skills training and support for innovation hubs as areas requiring cooperation.

Kogi State’s permanent secretary for innovation, science and technology, Eric Monday, said the state was applying digital tools to healthcare information and other public services.

Monday said a skills centre supported by development partners was nearing completion. His account described work in progress rather than an operational training facility.

The meeting also included remarks from Nasarawa’s science and technology permanent secretary, Damina John, and the North Central Development Commission’s executive director for commercial and industry development, Aisha Rufai.
