Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) discussed cooperation with Singapore on artificial intelligence and digital governance, in talks reported on February 5, 2026.
The talks took place in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, during a visit by Singapore’s non-resident high commissioner to Nigeria. NITDA did not identify the envoy or give a full meeting date.
Okay News reports that the discussions covered policy advice, technical assistance and training for Nigerian public institutions and workers. No agreement was signed, the agency said.
NITDA’s Director of e-Government and Digital Economy, Salisu Kaka, hosted the delegation on behalf of Director-General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi.
Kaka outlined Nigeria’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy and the agency’s digital-literacy programmes. The delegations also discussed regulatory approaches to digital assets, blockchain technology and cryptocurrency.
These discussions concerned possible cooperation, rather than newly enacted rules or approval for particular financial products.
Options included Nigeria’s potential participation in the Singapore Cooperation Programme and targeted institutional support. NITDA’s account did not identify a funding commitment or an implementation timetable.
