NJC orders Onnoghen to respond to EFCC’s fresh petition against him

By Farouk Mohammed

The National Judicial Council, NJC, has asked suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Walter Onnoghen, to respond to a fresh petition against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

This is coming at an emergency meeting in Abuja.

Onnoghen was given seven days to respond to allegations the EFCC raised against him.

Similarly, the Council constituted a Preliminary Complaints Assessment Committee to consider responses to Mr Onnoghen and the Acting CJN, Justice Tanko Muhammad, to various petitions against them.

However, the NJC said it would meet again on Wednesday to make a final decision on Justices Onnoghen and Muhammad.
