Port Harcourt, Nigeria – Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) inducted 103 new trainees into its Vocational Innovation Business and Empowerment Scheme (VIBES) on Monday. The 2026 cohort will gain skills training and pitch for startup grants. Port Harcourt, in Rivers State, hosts the program in Nigeria’s oil-rich Niger Delta.
Twenty-six graduates from the prior year completed training and received grants. Many expanded operations, improved finances, and grew customer bases within a year. They now run stable, revenue-generating businesses.
Okay News reports NLNG’s community focus. General Manager Sophia Horsfall said, “The VIBES programme reflects NLNG’s long-standing commitment to sustainable development in our host communities.” Manager Yemi Adeyemi noted visible progress in scaling ventures.
Trainees learn financial management, marketing, strategy, and legal basics. Mentors guide business pitches for funding. Top proposals win support to launch sustainable enterprises.
VIBES builds on NLNG’s goals in education, health, and infrastructure. It targets youth in host and pipeline communities. The scheme fosters jobs and local economic growth.
Nigeria’s gas giant invests in entrepreneurship for long-term impact. Graduates show practical success from training plus grants. New cohort eyes similar business wins.
