Detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu has named his newly born son, Nnabuikem.

Nnabuikem means ‘God is my strength’.

Uchechi Okwu Kanu delivered a bouncing baby boy on January 5th, 2016.

Her husband was in October 2015 arrested in Nigeria by the DSS and charged to court where he was granted bail and still remains in their custody after meeting all bail conditions.

A Federal High court in Abuja ruled on Wednesday that Kanu be freed from DSS custody and remanded in Kuje prison, Abuja where he can have access to his family members until a bail application is heard on January 25.

Pro-Biafrans are campaigning for the independence of the territories that constituted the Biafran Republic, established during the civil war in Nigeria which was previously headed by Ojukwu.
