…As Company Bags NIMASA Compliance Certification on Ship, Port Security

NNPC Ltd has reiterated its unwavering commitment to advancing process improvement, regulatory compliance, and performance excellence within the company.

Mr. Inuwa Danladi emphasized this, NNPC’s Executive Vice President, Business Services, while discussing the recent certification of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code Compliance obtained from the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

The ISPS certification, awarded in April 2024, encompasses all NNPC jetties nationwide. This certification is crucial for ensuring business continuity, preventing potential operational disruptions, and mitigating financial losses for the company.

In his statement, Mr. Danladi highlighted that beyond demonstrating NNPC’s adherence to regulatory standards, the certification also enables the company to join the Global Integrated Shipping Information System (GISIS). This inclusion enhances NNPC’s reputation as a secure and reliable business destination, with the added benefit of potentially reducing insurance premiums.

Mr. Danladi detailed some of the rigorous processes undertaken to obtain the certification, including upgrading relevant security facilities at the nation’s ports and jetties, establishing the ISPS Code Command Center, and engaging NIMASA Recognized Security Officers (RSO) to manage key regulatory processes.

Additionally, the development of the Port Facility Security Assessment (PFSA) and Port Facility Security Plan (PFSP), coupled with a meticulous Verification Inspection Exercise (VIE) conducted by NIMASA, underscores NNPC’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of maritime security in its operations.

“This achievement is a testament to our consistent dedication, and we pledge to continue striving towards attaining regulatory excellence in all our operations,” Mr. Danladi noted.
