The Kebbi State Government has clarified that the loud explosion recorded at the General Hospital in Bagudo in the early hours of Tuesday was caused by a fire incident, not a bomb blast as widely speculated on social media.

The clarification was contained in a statement made available to Okay News, and signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki, quoting the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

According to the state government, preliminary findings and security reports confirmed that the explosion originated from a fire outbreak within the hospital’s staff quarters.

The government said no lives were lost, noting that occupants of the affected building had evacuated before the incident. Security agencies, including the police and other operatives, have taken full control of the area, while investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the fire.

Residents were urged to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information capable of causing panic, as the government reaffirmed its commitment to the safety of lives and property across the state.
