The Presidency says the Federal Government used what it termed “backchannel negotiations” to facilitate the release of pupils of Government Girls Science Technical College (GGSTC), Dapchi, Yobe State.

This was according to Mansur Dan Ali, Minister of Defence, and Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, who briefed State House Correspondents shortly before the commencement of the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.

The Presidency in a statement via its official Twitter handle, further confirmed that no ransome was paid to secure the release of the girls.

Ministers of Information and Defence have just briefed the press ahead of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) Meeting.
