Junior Pope Odonwodo, the late Nollywood actor, has been laid to rest in his hometown of Nsukka, Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Odonwodo passed away in April following a tragic boat accident on the River Niger in Asaba, Delta State.

Last month, Pope’s family announced that the actor’s final rites would take place on May 17. True to schedule, his remains arrived in Nsukka on Friday morning, where a funeral service was held at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church in Ukehe.

The burial ceremony saw an outpouring of grief as family, friends, and colleagues gathered to pay their final respects. Among the celebrities in attendance were Zubby Michael, Ruby Ojiakor, Linc Edochie, Queen Wokoma, Chinwe Owoh, and Rita Edochie. The atmosphere was heavy with emotion as mourners broke down in tears while Pope’s body was lowered into the ground within his family compound.

To ensure the security of the event, the venue was heavily guarded by security operatives, including police officers and local vigilante groups.
