North and Northern Youth – Comr. Yusuf Saddam Saleh

It has become too noticeable that we (youths) must tell ourselves the truth, whether we like it or not.

Change does not come with arrogance, change starts with purifying one’s mind by believing that not only you can do, change starts by shunning religious, tribal, zonal or regional differences. Change also starts when the system we follow is no longer flexible in favour of me or you.

What is happening today is never in our character and never of our character. Beating and stoning of leaders with public offices has become quietly obvious in northern part of Nigeria; report has shown that such incidence had occurred in North West (Katsina), North Central (Niger) and North East (Bauchi).

The youths of yesterday were not like this, the likes of Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardauna of Sokoto did not stone their leaders (Colonial Masters) they followed them obediently despite their injustice, and that was why the power was handed over to them.

Fellow youths, know that you are being played in the midst of politics, many of these incidences were not initiated by you (the youths) but by some political technocrats that are affected hungrily by the want of power, they are using you to achieve their aim and at long run you are dumped.

Stoning and beating our dear representatives could only take us two steps backward, as such I consider it as an act of arrogances. It is hard to belief but refer back; according to history, the last prophet was stoned by illiterates not knowing who he really was!

According to my little understanding, these people (representatives) are heroes in one way or the other for giving out their time and everything to represent us, if we really don’t need them any longer, we shall then call them back home constitutionally or let our voters’ card cry out.
