The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has commenced an investigation into the crash-landing of a cargo aircraft operated by Allied Air at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja, on Wednesday.

The aircraft, with registration number 5N-JRT, reportedly experienced a landing gear failure at approximately 10:00 a.m., forcing it to crash-land.

Six crew members were on board the flight at the time of the incident.

In a statement shared on its Facebook page, Bimbo Oladeji, NSIB’s Director of Public Affairs and Family Assistance, confirmed that no fatalities or injuries were reported among the crew or ground personnel.

However, the aircraft sustained significant damage.

“Emergency response teams were promptly deployed to the scene to ensure the safety of all personnel and secure the site,” the NSIB said.

The bureau noted that it has already begun investigations to identify both the causal and contributory factors that led to the incident.

“Our Go Team has been dispatched to the site to conduct an on-site assessment, recover relevant data, and interview involved parties,” Oladeji added.
