OWERRI, Nigeria – Tension has gripped the Umuadara community in Umulogho, Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State, after a nursing student was found murdered inside her apartment under disturbing circumstances.
Okay News reports that the victim, identified as Wendy Achumba, was a student of the College of Nursing, Umulogho, and hailed from Ngwa in Abia State.
According to residents, the young woman had completed her Midwifery programme and was undergoing her Post Basic studies before the tragic incident occurred.
Community sources said her lifeless body was discovered on Thursday inside her residence in Umuadara, with visible signs of severe violence. Witnesses described the scene as shocking, prompting panic and outrage among residents.
“She was a calm person and focused on her studies. Nobody expected something like this to happen,” a resident who requested anonymity said.
The incident reportedly drew large crowds to the area after neighbours raised the alarm. Angry youths were also said to have confronted security operatives who arrived at the scene, demanding a thorough investigation and justice for the deceased student.
Police authorities have yet to officially confirm details surrounding the killing or announce any arrests connected to the case.
The tragic development has sparked grief across the community and among fellow students, with many calling for urgent action to identify those responsible.
