The National Youth Service Corps, a one-year mandatory national service programme created by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 1973 to promote national unity, integration, and national rebuilding after the Nigerian Civil War, has formally confirmed that Thursday, December 18, 2025, has been approved as the official passing-out date for all members of the 2024 Batch C, Stream II cohort.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Director of Information and Public Relations of the National Youth Service Corps, Caroline Embu, the management has approved a modest and low-key nationwide ceremony during which Certificates of National Service will be distributed simultaneously across all Local Government Areas in Nigeria.

Okay News reports that the National Youth Service Corps explained that pre-passing-out activities had already commenced, including Job Advisory and Counselling Sessions organized in partnership with allied government agencies and private-sector development institutions. These preparatory sessions are designed to equip Corps Members with employability skills, entrepreneurial guidance, and post-service transition support. The scheme also confirmed that Zonal Inspectors across the country are currently supervising the signing of final clearance forms, a compulsory requirement before the issuance of Certificates of National Service.

In the statement, the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, extended his best wishes to all outgoing Corps Members as they prepare for the final phase of their service year. According to the statement, “The National Youth Service Corps Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, wishes the Corps Members a successful winding-up and passing-out exercise. He also urged them to allow the core values of the Scheme guide them in their post-service relationships as good ambassadors of National Youth Service Corps.”

The National Youth Service Corps programme comprises a three-week orientation camp featuring paramilitary drills, citizenship and leadership development training, the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme, and community integration exercises. After the orientation phase, Corps Members are deployed to their Places of Primary Assignment across sectors such as education, agriculture, public health, social services, and rural development. They further participate in Community Development Service projects aimed at improving living conditions in their host communities.

With the passing-out date now fixed, the 2024 Batch C, Stream II Corps Members are set to conclude their national assignment, marking the end of their service to the nation and the beginning of their professional and civic contributions as young Nigerian graduates.
